Global Village trips

Global Village trips

Make a difference globally
Habitat for Humanity International’s Global Village (GV) trips give participants a unique opportunity to become active partners with people of another culture. Team members work alongside members of the host community, raising awareness of the burden of poverty housing and building decent, affordable housing worldwide. As partners, team members help build a true “global village” of love, homes, communities and hope!

Build bridges, build hope, have fun

Working abroad with Habitat for Humanity is often a life-changing experience. GV participants learn about poverty housing and Habitat’s ecumenical Christian ministry and mission to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness worldwide. GV teams give of themselves as they work alongside homeowners and local volunteers of all backgrounds, races and religions. Participants learn about the host community’s culture, language and social practices, and develop new skills and confidence. In addition to an unbelievable experience building homes, most teams also take some R&R time to visit local attractions or parks, see ancient ruins or experience what nature has to offer — just to name a few of the possibilities!

Youth teams

Global Village trips can be a life-changing experience for young people. High schools, colleges, church groups and other established organizations can plan a Global Village trip with participants 14 years of age and older. Each group must have a team leader who is at least 24 years of age responsible for organizing the trip and leading the team in country. Please note, individuals under 18 can participate in Global Village trips only as part of an established organization or with a legal guardian. Your youth team can begin planning a trip with Habitat’s Global Village program.
